Learning Outcomes of the course unitBy the end of the course, the students should be able to:
  1. Underline basic ideas, methods, techniques and issues of drawing and model making as a way of communication of a visual language and presentation of ideas
  2. Recognize the use and need of drawing and 3-D volume-making in visualizing concepts and plans in art and architecture and identify how these could be translated and actualised in reality.
  3. Apply a combination of 2-D and 3-D in order to examine and solve advanced technical, compositional and conceptual problems pertinent to their ideas.
  4. Examine the importance and meaning of representational drawing and pictorial space and experiment by questioning spacial relations using objects in order to create more complex compositions.
  5. Create with unusual methods of composition, by constructing new ideas using issues of conventional rendering systems, and invent how these could be applied in expressing innovative ideas
  6. Evaluate the outcome of their work, justify the solutions to their drawing projects and appraise the significance of drawing and 3-D model making in the advancement of their visual language.

Course ContentsAn extensive study of a survey of concepts, methods, and issues of drawing as a vehicle of visual organization, thought, and expression.
A wide-ranging examination of drawing techniques and concepts designed to expand awareness of the art of drawing and model making which will expose students to issues relevant to contemporary art and architecture.  
An investigation of the subject of drawing and its connection to 3-D modelling  through lectures, discussions, critiques, and of the process of making images and objects using paper. Emphasis is given to composition, and sensitivity to shape and form, ways of translating drawings to 3-D and advanced technical and compositional skills in order to provide a basis for creative growth and expression.
Give students a functioning knowledge of the fundamental theories of representational drawing and the role they play in the development of ideas. Throughout the term, the class will progress from setting up simple drawings to more complex compositions with the use of 3-D objects attached to them.
An intensive focus on experimentation, process, content/thematic focus, ,numerous drawing strategies and use of materials. Exploration of alternative drawing methods and the process of drawing as a vehicle of personal expression, thought, and creative discourse. Emphasis is given to the use of different materials and how these could be represented in 2-D form.  

Enhance their oral and visual communication skills for maximum effectiveness. Focus on the visual presentation of their work such as use of materials, layout rules and other presentation techniques.

Planned learning activities and teaching methodsThe taught part of course is delivered to the students by means of lectures, presentations and demonstrations but mainly though their studio practices. Students go though personal tutoring, group critiques and final assessments.
