Learning Outcomes of the course unitBy the end of the course, the students should be able to:
  1. Demonstrated the ability to identify and focus on specific research questions and aims which have theoretical or applied interest.
  2. Developed, presented and executed the method of approach to provide answers to the above questions.
  3. Acquired in depth knowledge in the chosen area of study and shown ability to critically discuss the relevant material in a comprehensive literature review.
  4. Reviewed the results of the study drawing incisive conclusions and presenting creative recommendations.
  5. Worked successfully alone and demonstrated adequate initiative and time management skills, while making optimum use of supervision.
  6. Made good use of the latest information technology in the process of reviewing the area of study, executing the methodology of research and analyzing the results.
  7. Presented and defended a concise project report following the Dissertation Guidelines.

Course Contents The MSc Thesis will have the form of an original research project that includes data collection and processing (theoretical, interpretational and applied research).
 
The MSc in International Trade and Shipping Management at Frederick University offers students the opportunity to specialise in one of four areas: Trade and Logistics, Ship Management, Financial Management, and Transport Operations. The precise topic is to be discussed and agreed in the beginning by the Instructors and Advisor. The choice of dissertation topic will lead to the award of one of our four named degrees:
 
  • MSc International Trade and Shipping Management (Trade and Logistics)
  • MSc International Trade and Shipping Management (Ship Management)
  • MSc International Trade and Shipping Management (Financial Management)
  • MSc International Trade and Shipping Management (Transport Operations)
 
Length
Although determining the exact length of the dissertation is not possible since the quality evaluation criteria lie within the dissertation content and depth, the expected extend is set around 20,000 words, excluding Tables of Contents, Annexes, Appendixes and References. 
When completed (with the consent of the Thesis Advisor) the Dissertation must be submitted in three copies, 15 days before the examination period of the semester.
