Course ContentsThis is a preparatory course for the Master Thesis that students must undertake, which is a research oriented or applied work at the forefront of knowledge within the specialization of the student, in the area of Web and Mobile Computing.
The taught component of the Course consists of a series of lectures that aim to provide students with the knowledge and skills required to carry out a research or applied Master’s level project, prepare a project proposal, write a literature review report and a research paper, review scientific and research papers, write a project proposal and a Thesis report, as well as to prepare and deliver a presentation related to their project work. 
By the end of the course, students must submit and present a proposal sketch for their Master’s Thesis.  In this proposal, students are expected to propose the topic of their project, providing the detailed objectives and expected contributions of their work, conduct an in-depth literature review of the current state of knowledge on the issues related to the proposal, as well as suggest a methodology and planning for the implementation of the Thesis.

    Planned learning activities and teaching methodsDuring the semester, students must attend a series of lectures organized by the Department, that aim to provide students with the knowledge and skills required to carry out research, prepare a research proposal, write a literature review and a research paper, write a Thesis report, as well as prepare and deliver a presentation related to their research work. 
    Through this Course, students are also expected to propose the topic of their Master’s Thesis (ACSC590). During the course of the semester, students must consult with the academic staff and decide on the topic of their Masters Thesis. After deciding on the topic of the Master Thesis, the Program Coordinator, in consultation with the student and other related members of the Department, form an Assessment Committee for the student, consisting of three members. Two of these members must be from the academic staff related to the specialization of the student, where one is the student’s Thesis Advisor. The third member can be any member of the academic staff of the Program, or an external qualified person. The Student is expected to meet regularly with his Thesis Advisor to set the objectives and contributions of the Thesis, and decide on the methodology to be used.
