Qualification Requirements
The doctoral program is based on the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS). To be awarded the PhD degree, the student must complete at least 240 ECTS credits of graduate level coursework, research work, and seminar attendance. The normal duration of the program is four years.
The requirements for the successful completion of the doctoral program and the award of the PhD degree in Electrical Engineering are the following:
- Successful completion of 60 ECTS credits of graduate Masters level coursework. Students with a Masters degree or students who have successfully completed graduate level courses can be fully or partially exempted from this requirement.
- Successful completion of 28 ECTS credits of doctoral level coursework.
- Pass the PhD qualifying exam.
- Approval of the doctoral dissertation proposal.
- Submission of a doctoral dissertation.
- Successful defense of the doctoral dissertation.
- Participation to graduate level seminars including research talks and conferences.
- Acceptance for publication of at least two research papers, presenting the contributions and outcomes of the thesis of the student, in refereed international journals or conferences.
