The Programme is currently under evaluation by the Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education. It is expected that the Programme will be accredited and offered in the academic year 2016-2017.
Master in Business Administration (ΜΒΑ) with Specialisation in Public Policy and Management

Duration of studies:
The duration of the MBA program, of which the new specialization under evaluation is
a part of, depends on:
- Full-time study: three academic semesters (18 months)
- Part-time study: six academic semesters (36 months)
Program’s purpose and objectives:
The MBA Specialisation in Public Policy and Management is primarily targeted at employees working in Greece and Cyprus across a range of public sector organisations. Students on the program will acquire knowledge in the fundamentals of management through a comprehensive number of core courses in various business disciplines. Building on this foundation, specifically designed courses will aim to offer specialist knowledge in public sector policy and management. In these courses, students will analyse key issues in public policy development, implementation and management and learn how to think creatively and make decisions under the unique processes and constraints of the public sector.
The objectives of this program lie in providing students with basic understanding and knowledge of:
- The key concepts, principles and theoretical approaches of public policy and public administration.
- The fundamental theoretical frameworks and models of public administration and their relevance to actual practice in Cyprus and Greece.
- The role of states in the design and implementation of European policies.
- The principles and the procedures regarding the preparation, voting, and implementation of the state and EU budget.
- A general theoretical and empirical framework of the economic and monetary European integration process.
- The structure of state organization, e.g. the recent reforms in Hellenic public administration.
- The challenges created by the participation of a state in the European Union (EU), through knowledge of the development and operation of the EU multilevel governance system and its major institutions.
Intended learning outcomes:
Upon successful completion of the program, students should be able to:
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of the fundamental concepts / topics of public policy and public administration, as well as the related topics of policy design and policy implementation within the institutional framework of liberal democracies.
- Describe the fiscal organization and functioning of the EU and the basic procedures regarding the preparation and implementation of the EU budget
- Understand the rationale of monetary unification, the state of the European Monetary Union (EMU) and its impact on the European macroeconomic performance
- Identify regional development factors and forms of regional development management
- Analyse current issues of Strategic and Economic Policy Framework of European Funding (Lisbon Agenda/Strategy 2020)
- Understand the basic concepts and principles of adminitrative law and administration of the state.
- Appreciate certain issues of institutional and operational modernization of public administration.
