Webinar on Education for Sustainable Development and Social Change

Former Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Dr Costas Kadis and Dr. Aravella Zachariou, President of the United Nations' Committee on Education for Sustainable Development will speak on the role of education as a tool in promoting sustainable development and social change.

The Department of Education at Frederick University and the MSc in Education for Sustainable Development and Social Change are holding a webinar on Wednesday 21 June 2023 at 18:00-19:00. Keynote speakers Dr Costas Kadis and Dr Aravella Zachariou, will address the webinar and explain the importance of education as a catalyst in achieving the sustainability development goals for a just, peaceful, socially cohesive future for all.

During the event, Dr Chrysanthi Kadji, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Education at Frederick University, will talk about the postgraduate program in Education for Sustainable Development and Social Change offered by Frederick University. This one-of-a-kind program is to educate professionals from a variety of fields, and members of the public as well, to have the knowledge, skills and values needed to take an active role locally and globally in addressing global challenges.

Dr Kadji, coordinator of the program, notes: "Frederick University's MSc in Education for Sustainable Development and Social Change is aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals and the emphasis placed on the role of education towards achieving these goals. For us, education is not only a human right but a prerequisite for sustainable development as well and an important tool towards better decision-making and the promotion of democracy. That is why this program is addressed to every citizen who can play a small or big role in achieving a sustainable future for all."
