Dr. Foteini Economidou Kranou

Short CV

Dr. Fotini Economides Kranou completed her Ph.D in Psychology at the University of Cyprus (2014), her Master’s Degree in Counseling (2000) and her BA in Psychology (1997) at the University of Louisiana. She is a faculty member at Frederick University Cyprus since 2017 teaching undergraduate courses in the B.A in Psychology program and graduate courses in the Distance program of Masters in Special Education. She has worked at the Cyprus University of Technology as Head of Counseling and Student Development Center (2008-2017), at the University of Cyprus as Head of Counseling (2004-2008) and at the Cyprus Social Welfare Services (2001-2004) in the Family/child protective services as a therapist. She has worked for the Louisiana Correctional Services Department as a therapist in a correctional facility detention center and for the USA Veteran Affairs working with Vietnam veteran soldiers. She has designed and developed the Counseling and Student Development Center of the Cyprus University of Technology with the Student Personal Counseling Center, Student Disability Center, Substance Abuse Information Center and Learning Center. She published a monograph textbook with the title “Psychosocial and Cognitive Development of Undergraduate University Students in Greek Cypriot Universities”, a book chapter titled “Counseling Couples and Families in Cyprus” in the book “On Multicultural Counseling” and various articles in international scientific journals. Her research interests focus on mental health counseling and psychotherapy issues and developmental subjects in children and adults. As of 2021 she holds a position in the Board of Directors of the International Association of Psychology and Counseling (IAPC) and is the Chair of IAPC for Greece and Cyprus. She has been appointed as Editor in Chief of the Journal of the International Association of Psychology and Counseling which will commence its works in 2023.

Η Δρ. Φωτεινή Οικονομίδου Κράνου απέκτησε Διδακτορικό Πτυχίο στη Ψυχολογία από το Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου (2014), Μεταπτυχιακό Πτυχίο στη Συμβουλευτική (2007) και πρώτο Πτυχίο στη Ψυχολογία (1997) από το Πανεπιστήμιο της Λουιζιάνα. Κατέχει τη θέση της Λέκτορος στο Πανεπιστήμιο Frederick με το οποίο συνεργάζεται από το 2017. Διδάσκει προπτυχιακά μαθήματα στο προπτυχιακό πρόγραμμα της Ψυχολογίας καθώς και μεταπτυχιακά μαθήματα στο εξ’ αποστάσεως πρόγραμμα της Ειδικής Εκπαίδευσης του Πανεπιστημίου. Έχει εργαστεί στο Τεχνολογικό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου (2008-2017), στο Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου (2004-2008) και στις Υπηρεσίες Κοινωνικής Ευημερίας στον τομέα βίας στην οικογένεια και προστασίας παιδιού (2001-2004). Έχει επίσης εργαστεί στο Τμήμα Δικαίου της Πολιτείας Λουιζιάνα στις ΗΠΑ παρέχοντας ψυχοθεραπεία σε κρατούμενους σε φυλακές καθώς και στο USA Veteran Affairs παρέχοντας ψυχοθεραπεία σε βετεράνους του πολέμου του Βιετνάμ με μετατραυματική διαταραχή του στρες. Έχει σχεδιάσει και αναπτύξει το Κέντρο Φοιτητικής Ανάπτυξης του Τεχνολογικού Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου με το Κέντρο Προσωπικής Συμβουλευτικής, Πανεπιστημιακό Κέντρο ΑΜΕΑ, Κέντρο Ενημέρωσης για Εξαρτησιογόνες Ουσίες και το Κέντρο Μάθησης. Εχει εκδόσει μία μονογραφία με τίτλο “Psychosocial and Cognitive Development of Undergraduate University Students in Greek Cypriot Universities”, άρθρο στο βιβλίο“On Multicultural Counseling” με τίτλο “Counseling Couples and Families in Cyprus” και αριθμό άρθρων σε διεθνή επιστημονικά περιοδικά. Από το 2021 είναι Μέλος του Συμβουλίου του International Association of Psychology and Counseling (IAPC) και τo 2022 έχει διοριστεί ως Editor in Chief για το Journal of the International Association of Psychology and Counseling με ημερομηνία έναρξης εργασιών του το 2023.
