Mr. Nicolas Lambouris

Short CV

Nicolas Lambouris is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Arts & Communication at Frederick University and Lab Coordinator of the research lab PFM [Photography. Film+Media. Lab]. He is currently teaching Concepts of New Media, Advanced Photographic Practices, Art Directing & Production, Image & Display, Advanced Advertising, Package Design, Design Management & Practices, Masters Dissertation Thesis and Senior Thesis Project, in the Postgraduate and Undergraduate Programs of the Department. He holds an MA in Photography from Kent Institute of Art & Design, University of Kent (UK), a BA in Studio Art and a BA in Media Studies from Queens College, City University of New York (USA). Lambouris is a founding member, and a member of the Board of Directors of the International Association of Photography & Theory [IAPT], a member of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), a member of the International Visual Sociology Association (IVSA), and a Research Associate of the Cultural Studies and Contemporary Arts Lab (CSCA Lab), European University Cyprus. He has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra Foundation, and a member of the Advisory Committee-State Art Collection, Department of Contemporary Culture, Deputy Ministry of Culture in Cyprus. Lambouris’ research interests include contemporary photographic practices, photographic archives, visual sociology, video & sonic arts, filmmaking, and digital media; while his artistic practice focuses on issues of cultural identity (-ies), the politics of representation and historiography. His work, which includes photography, collage, installation, video, sound, and text, has been exhibited both locally and internationally, it is part of private and state art collections and has been published by IAPT Press, La Fabrica, Yard Press and MUZA Eretz Museum Tel-Aviv Publications. Lambouris has participated in several academic & artistic conferences dedicated to the interdisciplinary and critical study of photography and visual culture and, has text contributions in the scholarly journal Photographies and Membrana.

Ο Νικόλας Λαμπούρης είναι Επίκουρος Καθηγητής στο Τμήμα Τεχνών & Επικοινωνίας του Πανεπιστημίου Frederick και Συντονιστής του Ερευνητικού Εργαστηρίου PFM [Photography. Film+Media. Lab]. Διδάσκει Concepts of New Media, Advanced Photographic Practices, Art Directing & Production, Image & Display, Advanced Advertising, Package Design, Design Management & Practices, Masters Dissertation Thesis και Senior Thesis Project, στα Μεταπτυχιακά και στα Προπτυχιακά Προγράμματα του Τμήματος. Είναι κάτοχος Μεταπτυχιακού στη Φωτογραφία από το Kent Institute of Art & Design, University of Kent (UK), Πτυχίου Studio Art και Πτυχίου Media Studies από το Queens College, City University of New York (ΗΠΑ). Είναι ιδρυτικό μέλος και μέλος του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου της Διεθνούς Ένωσης Φωτογραφίας & Θεωρίας [IAPT], μέλος του Διεθνούς Συμβουλίου Μουσείων (ICOM), μέλος της Διεθνούς Ένωσης Οπτικής Κοινωνιολογίας (IVSA), και Επιστημονικός Συνεργάτης του Εργαστηρίου Πολιτισμικών Σπουδών και Σύγχρονης Τέχνης (CSCA Lab), στο Ευρωπαϊκό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου. Έχει επίσης διατελέσει μέλος του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου του Ιδρύματος Συμφωνικής Ορχήστρας Κύπρου, και μέλος της Συμβουλευτικής Επιτροπής-Κρατικής Συλλογής Τέχνης, του Τμήματος Σύγχρονου Πολιτισμού, Υφυπουργείο Πολιτισμού. Τα ερευνητικά ενδιαφέροντα του επικεντρώνονται στις σύγχρονες φωτογραφικές πρακτικές, στα φωτογραφικά αρχεία, την οπτική κοινωνιολογία, το video & sonic arts, το κινηματογράφο και τις ψηφιακές τέχνες, ενώ η καλλιτεχνική του πρακτική εστιάζεται σε θέματα πολιτιστικής ταυτότητας (-ων), την πολιτική της αναπαράστασης και της ιστοριογραφίας. Το έργο του, το οποίο περιλαμβάνει φωτογραφία, κολλάζ, εγκαταστάσεις, βίντεο, ήχο και κείμενα, έχει παρουσιαστεί σε τοπικό και διεθνές επίπεδο, αποτελεί μέρος ιδιωτικών και κρατικών συλλογών τέχνης, και έχει εκδοθεί από τις εκδόσεις IAPT Press, La Fabrica, Yard Press και MUZA Eretz Museum Tel-Aviv. Ο Λαμπούρης έχει συμμετάσχει σε αρκετά ακαδημαϊκά & καλλιτεχνικά συνέδρια αφιερωμένα στη διεπιστημονική και κριτική μελέτη της φωτογραφίας και του οπτικού πολιτισμού, ενώ ερευνητικά του κείμενα έχουν δημοσιευτεί από τα επιστημονικά περιοδικά Photographies και Membrana.
