Learning Outcomes of the course unitBy the end of the course, the students should be able to:
  1. Comprehend the activities involved in the economic operation of power systems, the importance, usage and issues of short term load forecasting, as well as unit commitment.
  2. Exhibit knowledge and understanding of the activities involved in generation scheduling and control, automatic generation control, and calculation of economic dispatch.
  3. Explain the structure of electricity markets, the operation of deregulated power systems and the associated commercial operation.
  4. Define the coordination of preventive and corrective controls, the concept of security constrained dispatch, the function of on-line security analysis, static security.
