Dr. Andreas Poullikkas, former Chairman of the Cyprus Energy Regulatory Authority, has been unanimously elected Professor of Energy Systems in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the School of Engineering.

Dr. Poullikkas is an internationally recognized scientist with over 25 years of experience in energy strategy and research related to the optimization of sustainable energy systems. He has taught at various universities in Cyprus and abroad and has a rich body of publications and research work. Professor Poullikkas is listed among the top 2% of scientists and among the top 100,000 researchers worldwide, according to a ranking published by Stanford University, with a global ranking of #808 in the field of Energy, placing him in the top 0.6% of researchers worldwide. He served for several years as Chairman of the Cyprus Energy Regulatory Authority and as Chairman of the Cyprus Energy Strategy Council, positions to which he was appointed by the President of the Republic.

Additionally, I aim to further enhance and strengthen doctoral studies within the Department of Mechanical Engineering, while promoting innovative, inter-university postgraduate programs focused on renewable and sustainable energy sources." he adds.

Professor Poullikkas will assume his duties at the University in the Spring Semester 2025.
