Dr Christos Savva is an Associate Professor in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, at the Department of Life and Health Science, University of Frederick, since 2023. He served for 13 years as a Clinical Trainer, Lecturer and Assistant Professor at the Department of Health Science, of the European University of Cyprus (2010-2023). By training, he holds a BSc in Physiotherapy (ATEITH, 2008) and a MSc Advanced Manipulative Physiotherapy in Birmingham University, with a major specialization in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. He named a PhD, from the University of Thessaly. Until today, his research work has led to the establishment of a significant research record which includes journal articles and presentations in national and international conferences (23 articles; 500 citations; h-index=10). He has constantly published research articles over the last ten years. In addition, during the last two year (2020 – 2023), he has published 11 research articles and currently he has submitted 3 manuscripts for publication. Recently, he participates as the principal investigator in a research project titled “The role of Cognitive Functional Therapy in Chronic Neck Pain”.  Through this project, he has published systematic reviews for publication and for the next two years, his research team is planning to explore the below topics: 1.Pain Neuroscience and Pain Biomechanics Education on Chronic Neck Pain: A systematic review with meta-analysis 2.Effectiveness of Clinical Pilates on Chronic Neck Pain: A systematic review with meta-analysis 3.The effect of Cognitive Functional Therapy in Chronic Neck Pain: A randomized controlled trial 4.Cognitive Functional Therapy compared with Clinical Pilates in Chronic Neck Pain: A randomized controlled trial 5.Measurement of Cervical Range of Motion by Electronic Goniometer: A Test - Retest Reliability Study in Chronic Neck Pain 6.Test-Retest Reliability of Isometric Muscle Endurance Tests in Patients with Chronic Neck Pain Throughout his research career he adopt an integrative approach in his research, namely he builds on expertise in neuro-musculoskeletal physiotherapy. In particular, his research revolves around the following topics: A) the role of cervical traction combined with neural mobilization in cervical radiculopathy, B) the degree of test-retest of outcome measures that can be used in the area of neuro-musculoskeletal physiotherapy C) the analgesic mechanisms of neural mobilization and thrust – manipulation and D) the role of cognitive functional therapy in chronic neck pain.

Ο Δρ. Χρήστος Σάββα είναι Αναπληρωτής Καθηγητής Μυοσκελετικής Φυσικοθεραπείας, του Τμήματος Επιστημών Ζωής και Υγείας του Πανεπιστημίου Φρέτερικ από το 2023. Όσον αφορά την επαγγελματική σταδιοδρομία του στον ακαδημαϊκό χώρο, ξεκινήσει να εργάζεται στο Ευρωπαϊκό Πανεπιστήμιο, στο Πρόγραμμα Φυσικοθεραπείας από το 2010 ως Κλινικός Εκπαιδευτής, το 2015 έγινε Λέκτορας και το 2020 Επίκουρος Καθηγητής. Αποφοίτησε από το ΤΕΙ Αθηνών το 2008, ενώ το 2011 ολοκλήρωσε τις μεταπτυχιακές του σπουδές στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Μπέρμιγχαμ, στο αντικείμενο του Manual Therapy. Τέλος, το 2014, ολοκλήρωσε τις διδακτορικές του σπουδές στο Πανεπιστημίου της Θεσσαλίας. Αναφορικά με την ερευνητική του δραστηριότητα, έχει δημοσιεύσει 23 μελέτες και h-index 10. Τη δεδομένη χρονική στιγμή συμμετέχει ως κύριος επιβλέποντας στο ερευνητικό έργο με τίτλο “The role of Cognitive Functional Therapy in Chronic Neck Pain”.
