Georgia Demetriou is an experienced legal specialist with ten years of demonstrated expertise in Maritime Law across multiple jurisdictions. She is a qualified lawyer and graduated from the University of Sheffield where she obtained an LLB (honours) degree in Law as well as an LLM in International Maritime Law from the University of Wales at Swansea. Georgia joined the Maritime Studies Faculty of Frederick University in 2011, and her research interest mainly focuses on the Public International maritime law, maritime safety and security law. She is the in-house Legal Counsel for the OSM Maritime Group and is in charge of providing consultation on all legal matters between all 25 jurisdictions where OSM exists, while she also sits on the Board of Directors on the operational companies within the Group. In 2018, Georgia was featured in the Legal 500 GC Powerlist of the top 100 inhouse Legal Counsel of Greece and Cyprus, acknowledging her as one of the most innovative lawyers in the region. In 2019, her team was also featured in the Team Elite list, for driving legal business forward. Additionally, Georgia was elected as a member of WISTA Cyprus Board of Directors in 2020 and as a young board affiliate in 2019 and her vision is to promote equality, diversity and inclusion to the maritime cluster. she is member of the Legal Committee of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber and a member of Youngship.
