Employers like to know they're taking on someone who has experience outside the classroom. While you will develop the required academic knowledge and useful skills from studying at Frederick University, practical experience learned in the workplace can only help your chances of getting your ideal job once you graduate. Any kind of 'real world' work, short-term or long-term, before or after your degree, gives you some experience, and so can hobbies, interests, sports, volunteering and travelling.

Types of work experience you can gain as a student:
  • Job shadowing: Explore your major and possible career areas while spending time and observing professionals in the real world.
  • Volunteering: Contribute as a volunteer in University campaigns and in the community to support a cause, to better understand local and global social problems and challenges and contribute to their solution.
  • Internships: Use part of your summer to intern in Cyprus and abroad through mobility programs like Erasmus+ and IASTE.
  • Work Placements: These are opportunities to work in the industry during the semester and receive credit towards your degree. Visit the Laison Office for more information.
  • Vacation Jobs and Part-time Jobs: This is a great way to develop important skills, network, fund your studies or earn extra pocket money. Whatever the reason, you will earn valuable experiences, skills and boost your CV.
  • On-Campus Employment opportunities: From Peer Tutoring to Computer Lab Assistants to Sports Office, on-campus employment opportunities vary and are flexible to adjust to your academic timetable.

We have developed a network of cooperating businesses and organisations and post current job, training and continuing education opportunities in Cyprus and abroad in our dedicated Facebook page and Online Platform (Career Connect).
