Dr. Marios Pelekanos

Short CV

Marios Pelekanos graduated as an Architect Engineer from the National Technical University of Athens (1989), obtained a Master's degree from the Bartlett School of Architecture and Planning, University College London (1990), and was awarded a PhD from the National Technical University of Athens, with his research focused on the constructional analysis of the timber-roofed basilicas of the Troodos region in Cyprus (2024). He is an Associate Professor at Frederick University, specializing in Advanced Technological Design, and serves as Vice-Chair of the Department of Architecture. He teaches architectural design studio and architectural technology courses in the undergraduate programs for Architect Engineers (including reinforced concrete structures, lightweight constructions, principles of anti-seismic design, etc.). He coordinates, and teaches constructional analysis and restoration methods, of the DL Master's programme "Conservation and Restoration of Historic Buildings and Monuments". His international publications include articles and conference presentations, mainly related to the anti-seismic and bioclimatic behaviour of historic structures. He has authored or contributed to three scientific books. His professional work includes the design and supervision of building projects, urban planning works, conservation and restoration of historic buildings, and contemporary technology projects involving lightweight constructions.

Ο Μάριος Πελεκάνος αποφοίτησε ως Αρχιτέκτων Μηχανικός από το Εθνικό Μετσόβιο Πολυτεχνείο Αθηνών (1989), απέκτησε το Μεταπτυχιακό Δίπλωμα Μάστερ από την Bartlett School of Architecture and Planning, University College London (1990) και ανακηρύχθηκε Διδάκτωρ του Εθνικού Μετσόβιου Πολυτεχνείου, με ερευνητικό θέμα την κατασκευαστική ανάλυση των ξυλόστεγων βασιλικών του Τροόδους της Κύπρου (2024). Είναι Αναπληρωτής Καθηγητής στο Πανεπιστήμιο Frederick, με γνωστικό αντικείμενο τις Συνθέσεις Τεχνολογικής Αιχμής, και Αντιπρόεδρος του Τμήματος Αρχιτεκτονικής. Διδάσκει μαθήματα αρχιτεκτονικής σύνθεσης και τεχνολογίας στα προπτυχιακά προγράμματα των Αρχιτεκτόνων Μηχανικών (κατασκευές από οπλισμένο σκυρόδεμα, ελαφρές κατασκευές, αρχές αντισεισμικού σχεδιασμού κλπ). Είναι Συντονιστής και διδάσκει κατασκευαστική ανάλυση και μεθόδους αποκατάστασης στο Εξ’ Αποστάσεως Μεταπτυχιακό Πρόγραμμα «Συντήρηση και αποκατάσταση ιστορικών κατασκευών και μνημείων». Οι διεθνείς του δημοσιεύσεις περιλαμβάνουν άρθρα και παρουσιάσεις σε συνέδρια, κυρίως σε σχέση με την αντισεισμική και βιοκλιματική συμπεριφορά των ιστορικών κατασκευών. Συνέγραψε, ή συμμετείχε στην συγγραφή, τριών επιστημονικών βιβλίων. Η επαγγελματική του δραστηριότητα περιλαμβάνει την μελέτη και επίβλεψη κτιριακών έργων, έργων αστικού σχεδιασμού, έργων συντήρησης και αποκατάστασης ιστορικών κτιρίων και έργων σύγχρονης τεχνολογίας ελαφρών κατασκευών.
