Rafael Alexandrou is currently a PhD student at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Informatics of Frederick University. He was born and raised in Nicosia, Cyprus and he received both his BSc (Hons) in Computer Engineering and MSc (Distinction) in Web and Smart Systems from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Frederick University. His research interests include Mobile Computing and Systems, Computational Intelligence, Indoor Positioning Systems, and Machine Learning. Rafael is a full-time researcher of Frederick Research Center (FRC) and he is currently a part of the research and development team of EnterCyprus Integrated Project with project number INTEGRATED/0609/0020, which is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the Cyprus Government through the Research & Innovation Foundation (RIF) program RESTART 2016-2020. Additionally, he is a part-time lecturer of Frederick University and he is teaching a number of Computer Engineering related subjects at both Nicosia and Limassol campuses. The subjects include Computer Architecture, Networks, Programming, etc. Finally, Rafael’s work can be found in a number of publications including “Smartphone Indoor Localization Using Bio-inspired Modeling” published in Nature-Inspired Computation in Navigation and Routing Problems by Springer, and “Indoor Localization with Multi-objective Selection of Radiomap Models” presented in AIAI 2020: Artificial Intelligence Applications and Innovations and published by Springer.
