H Δρ Ρίτα Παναούρα είναι η Κοσμήτορας της Σχολής Επιστημών της Αγωγής και Κοινωνικών Επιστημών. Είναι Καθηγήτρια Μαθηματικής Παιδείας. Είναι κάτοχος πτυχίου στις Επιστήμες της Αγωγής (Παν. Κύπρου), Μάστερ στη Μαθηματική Παιδεία (Παν. Κύπρου), Μάστερ στην Εκπαιδευτική Έρευνα (Παν. Exeter) και Διδακτορικό στη Μαθηματική Παιδεία (Παν. Κύπρου). Εργάζεται στο Τμήμα Επιστημών της Αγωγής τα τελευταία 13 χρόνια και διδάσκει σε διάφορα προπτυχιακά και εξ αποστάσεως μεταπτυχιακά προγράμματα της Σχολής. Είναι μαζί με την Αν. Καθηγήτρια Νίκλεια Ετεοκλέους συντονίστρια του Διδακτορικού Προγράμματος του Τμήματος Επιστημών της Αγωγής. Έχει εργαστεί με ομάδα ακαδημαϊκών για την ανάπτυξη του Αναλυτικού Προγράμματος των Μαθημάτων το 2011 και την αναθεωρημένη μορφή το 2015. Η ίδια ομάδα επέβλεψε επιστημονικά τη συγγραφή όλων των σχολικών εγχειριδίων των μαθηματικών για το δημοτικό σχολείο και ανέπτυξε τις επιμορφώσεις του διδακτικού προσωπικού. Έχει λάβει μέρος σε χρηματοδοτούμενα ερευνητικά προγράμματα από το ΙΠΕ, το Ίδρυμα Λεβέντη, το Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου, την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση. Έχει διδάξει ως ειδικός επιστήμονας σε μεταπτυχιακό πρόγραμμα του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου (Μάστερ στη Μαθηματική Παιδεία) και του Διατμηματικού Μεταπτυχιακού του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου και του Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών (Διδακτική και Μεθοδολογία των Μαθηματικών). Τα κύρια ερευνητικά της ενδιαφέροντα επικεντρώνονται στη διερευνητική προσέγγιση διδασκαλίας, στην ανάπτυξη της ικανότητας αυτο-ρύθμισης στη μάθηση των μαθηματικών από πλευράς μαθητών και στη διδασκαλία των μαθηματικών από πλευράς εκπαιδευτικών, η μεταγνώση και η αξιολόγηση της εφαρμογής καινοτόμων προσεγγίσεων στην εκπαίδευση.

Dr Areti Panaoura holds a BA in Educational Studies (University of Cyprus), MSc in Education Research (Exeter University), MA and PhD in Mathematics Education (University of Cyprus). She is Professor of Mathematics Education in Frederick University and the Dean of the School of Education and Social Sciences at Frederick University. She is working at the Department of Education the last 10 years, teaching and cooperating in research with post-graduate students and PhD students. She is coordinator of the PhD in Education with Dr Nikleia Eteokleous. Based on her expertise she has been chosen by the Ministry of Education to be one of the three academics who were responsible for the development of the Curriculum of Mathematics in Cyprus (2011 and 2015) and who are still responsible for the teachers’ in-service training and the development of the teaching materials and textbooks in mathematics. She organized seminars for the faculty members (educators) in cooperation with the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute in order to facilitate them organize in-service training programs for teachers (primary and pre-primary) which aims to promote innovations about teaching processes in education. She has experiences as researcher in several funded research projects funded by agencies in Cyprus, in Greece and the European Union. Her main research interests are on inquiry-based teaching and learning, metacognition, the development of students’ and teachers’ self-regulatory strategies and abilities in order to handle flexibly difficulties during the teaching and learning processes and the evaluation of the application of innovations in education.
