Frederick University Co-organises the 15th International MEDPOWER 2026 Conference
Frederick University is co-organizing the 15th International MEDPOWER 2026 Conference, entitled Mediterranean Conference on Power Generation, Transmission, Distribution and Energy Conversion, which will take place in Paphos from 3 to 6 November 2026.
MEDPOWER 2026 is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Cyprus, and the Minister, Mr Michalis Damianou, will deliver a welcoming address.
The conference is organized by Frederick University and the local network of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), with the support of the IET Greece and Malta networks and the technical support of the IET. The conference will bring together members of the scientific and professional energy community from Cyprus and abroad.
The Institution of Engineering and Technology is one of the world's largest professional engineering institutions, with more than 140,000 members across 150 countries. It represents the engineering profession on matters of public interest and supports governments in raising public awareness of engineering and technology issues. It also provides advice across all engineering disciplines.
On behalf of Frederick University, Professor Andreas Poullikkas, Vice-Rector for Development, Internationalization and Partnerships, will deliver a welcoming address. The conference is chaired by Dr Alexis Polycarpou, Vice Dean of the School of Engineering at Frederick University.
MEDPOWER is part of a series of international conferences held biennially in the Mediterranean region. Over the past three decades, these conferences have established themselves as an important platform for knowledge exchange and scientific dialogue on energy technologies and power systems.
MEDPOWER 2026 is expected to feature more than 100 research paper presentations from 21 countries, as well as three keynote speeches and three special thematic sessions. The conference aims to foster the exchange of scientific knowledge and experience among engineers, scientists, researchers, academics and industry representatives, while creating opportunities for networking and the development of new collaborations.
The conference program covers a broad range of topics related to the design, operation and planning of power systems. Particular emphasis is placed on sustainable, renewable and alternative energy technologies; energy storage; the reliability, security and resilience of energy systems; distributed generation and microgrids; and the application of artificial intelligence and digital transformation in the energy sector.
Researchers and academic staff from Frederick University will present their research at the conference, contributing to the scientific dialogue on current challenges and future developments in energy systems.
“Through its co-organization of MEDPOWER 2026, Frederick University strengthens its active participation in international scientific initiatives and its contribution to advancing research, innovation and international collaboration in a field of critical importance to sustainable development and the energy transition,” notes Dr Alexis Polycarpou.
