New program of study in Applied Biomedical Sciences offering scholarships

Following successful evaluation and accreditation by the Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education (CYQAA), registrations have begun for the new and innovative undergraduate program in Applied Biomedical Sciences.

The program is offered by the School of Health Sciences' Department of Life and Health Sciences.

It provides the specialized knowledge and skills required for employment in areas such as: Clinical Biomedical Laboratories (which have significantly increased with the introduction of the General Healthcare System - GeSY, and have a great need for trained personnel), hospitals, clinics, research laboratories, universities, and research institutes.

The ultimate goal of the program is to educate students in the multidimensional field of Biomedical Sciences and, in collaboration with Clinical Laboratories, to offer them appropriate opportunities for hands-on learning in real working environments, a combination that will enhance their competitiveness in the job market. The program is offered in Nicosia, with Greek as the language of instruction.

The program is supported by the Association of Directors of Clinical Laboratories, Biomedical and Clinical Laboratory Scientists, and the Karaiskakio Foundation. A strong and innovative feature of the program is the active participation of future employers, both in teaching and in the professional training of students. Students have the opportunity to do internships at some of the most well-known Clinical Laboratories that closely collaborate with the program, such as SYNLAB Cyprus, Charis Charilaou Biomedical Laboratories, and the ACT-BIO Clinical and Molecular Laboratory.

Special scholarships for this new program in Applied Biomedical Sciences are offered by Frederick University, with the aim to meet the growing demand for trained professionals in clinical laboratories.
