Frederick University and Jordan’s PSUT University sign MoU for future collaboration

Recognizing the mutual benefits that can arise from their collaboration, Frederick University and Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the 16th of February.

The event was held both online and in person at Frederick University in Nicosia. At the hybrid event, held both online and physically, Frederick University’s Rector, Professor George Demosthenous, the Vice Rector of Research, Development and International Relations, Professor Michael Komodromos, the School of Engineering Dean, Professor Christos Themistos and the Director of Research and Interconnection, Mr Alexis Onoufriou. Present were also PSUT University’s President, Professor Wejdan Abu Elhaija, the Vice President of Administration, Professor Bassam Hammo, the Dean of Admissions, Professor Abdul Ghafoor Ahmad, as well as the Director of the International Relations office, Dr Radhi Hamadeen.

Within the MoU’s framework, the two academic institutions will seek the development of joint actions in the fields of Technology, Engineering, Informatics, Management and Economics, and Social Sciences and will promote the collaboration of their academic, administrative staff and students through mobility and exchange programs. They will also look for ways to develop joint research activity and participate in academic and research programs, as well as to offer joint study programs.

During the ceremony, Frederick University Rector pointed out that the Memorandum is not a formal procedure but the beginning of a series of essential actions for the common good of both the Universities and the two countries, Cyprus and Jordan. Professor Demosthenous thanked the members of the two Universities who worked to make the signing of the Memorandum possible. On behalf of PSUT, the MoU was signed by Professor Wejdan Abu Elhaija, who expressed her satisfaction at the prospect of cooperation with one of "the best universities in Cyprus, with international recognition and rich research work", as she stated.
