H Δρ Ρίτα Παναούρα είναι η Κοσμήτορας της Σχολής Επιστημών της Αγωγής και Κοινωνικών Επιστημών. Είναι Καθηγήτρια Μαθηματικής Παιδείας. Είναι κάτοχος πτυχίου στις Επιστήμες της Αγωγής (Παν. Κύπρου), Μάστερ στη Μαθηματική Παιδεία (Παν. Κύπρου), Μάστερ στην Εκπαιδευτική Έρευνα (Παν. Exeter) και Διδακτορικό στη Μαθηματική Παιδεία (Παν. Κύπρου). Εντάχθηκε στο Frederick Institute of Technology το 2005 και εργάζεται στο Τμήμα Επιστημών της Αγωγής του Πανεπιστημίου Frederick από το 2007. Διδάσκει σε διάφορα προπτυχιακά και εξ αποστάσεως μεταπτυχιακά προγράμματα της Σχολής. Συντονίζει μαζί με τη Νίκλεια Ετεοκλέους το Διδακτορικό Πρόγραμμα του Τμήματος Επιστημών της Αγωγής. Διετέλεσε αντιπρόεδρος τμήματος, αναπληρώτρια κοσμήτορας και εκλελεγμένο μέλος της Συγκλήτου από το 2007, μέλος της Επιτροπής Στρατηγικού Σχεδιασμού του συμβουλίου του Πανεπιστημίου, μέλος της επιτροπής Σπουδών και μέλος ad hoc επιτροπής για τις μεθόδους αξιολόγησης. Έχει εργαστεί με ομάδα ακαδημαϊκών για την ανάπτυξη του Αναλυτικού Προγράμματος των Μαθημάτων στην Εκπαίδευση το 2011 και την αναθεωρημένη μορφή το 2015. Η ίδια ομάδα επέβλεψε επιστημονικά τη συγγραφή όλων των σχολικών εγχειριδίων των μαθηματικών για το δημοτικό σχολείο και ανέπτυξε τις επιμορφώσεις του διδακτικού προσωπικού. Πρόσφατα συμμετείχε ως επιστημονικός σύμβουλος στη συγγραφή νέων σχολικών εγχειριδίων Μαθηματικών στην Ελλάδα. Έχει λάβει μέρος ως συντονίστρια και ως μέλος της ερευνητικής ομάδας σε χρηματοδοτούμενα ερευνητικά προγράμματα από το ΙΠΕ, το Ίδρυμα Λεβέντη, το Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου, την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση. Έχει διδάξει ως ειδικός επιστήμονας σε μεταπτυχιακό πρόγραμμα του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου (Μάστερ στη Μαθηματική Παιδεία) και του Διατμηματικού Μεταπτυχιακού του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου και του Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών (Διδακτική και Μεθοδολογία των Μαθηματικών). Τα κύρια ερευνητικά της ενδιαφέροντα επικεντρώνονται στη διερευνητική προσέγγιση διδασκαλίας, στην ανάπτυξη της ικανότητας αυτο-ρύθμισης στη μάθηση των μαθηματικών από πλευράς μαθητών και στη διδασκαλία των μαθηματικών από πλευράς εκπαιδευτικών, η μεταγνώση και η αξιολόγηση της εφαρμογής καινοτόμων προσεγγίσεων στην εκπαίδευση, η διασφάλιση ποιότητας στην εκπαίδευση. Τα τελευταία χρόνια δραστηριοποιείται με ομάδα συναδέλφων στη βελτίωση των διδακτικών προσεγγίσεων στα Μαθηματικά για νεοεισερχόμενους φοιτητές/τριες στην τριτοβάθμια εκπαίδευση. Έχουν απονεμηθεί από το 2018 διδακτορικοί τίτλοι σε 10 άτομα υπό την επίβλεψή της. Dr Rita Panaoura is the Dean of the School of Education and Social Sciences at Frederick University and Professor of Mathematics Education. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a Master’s degree in Mathematics Education from the University of Cyprus, a Master’s degree in Educational Research from the University of Exeter, and a PhD in Mathematics Education from the University of Cyprus. She joined Frederick Institute of Technology in 2005 and has been a member of the Department of Education at Frederick University since 2007. She teaches in several undergraduate and distance-learning postgraduate programmes offered by the School. Together with Dr Nikleia Eteokleous, she co-coordinates the PhD Programme of the Department of Education. Dr Panaoura has held several academic and administrative positions, including Vice-Chair of the Department and Deputy Dean, and has served as an elected member of the University Senate since 2007. She has also served as a member of the University Council’s Strategic Planning Committee, the Studies Committee, and an ad hoc committee on assessment methods. She was a member of the academic team responsible for the development of the Mathematics Curriculum for school education in Cyprus in 2011 and its revised version in 2015. The same team provided scientific supervision for the development of all mathematics textbooks for primary education and designed professional development programmes for teachers. More recently, she participated as a scientific advisor in the development of new mathematics textbooks in Greece. She has participated both as a coordinator and as a member of research teams in funded research projects supported by the Research Promotion Foundation, the Leventis Foundation, the University of Cyprus, and the European Union. She has also taught as a visiting lecturer in the Master’s Programme in Mathematics Education at the University of Cyprus and in the Interdepartmental Postgraduate Programme in Mathematics Education and Methodology jointly offered by the University of Cyprus and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Her main research interests include inquiry-based approaches to teaching and learning, the development of students’ self-regulated learning in mathematics, mathematics teaching practices, metacognition, the implementation and evaluation of innovative approaches in education, and quality assurance in education. Since 2018, ten doctoral candidates have successfully completed their PhD degrees under her supervision. In recent years, she has collaborated with colleagues on research aimed at improving approaches to the teaching and learning of mathematics among first-year students in higher education.
