Student or Graduate

The Michael Frederickou Award for an Outstanding Student or Graduate recognizes and celebrates a student or graduate who has demonstrated exceptional initiative and achievement with a meaningful and positive impact on the community.

This award places particular emphasis on real-world impact beyond academic performance, highlighting actions that contribute to society and inspire positive change.

What is meant by “impact”?

For the purposes of this award, impact may include (but is not limited to):

• Social impact: Initiatives that support communities, address social challenges, or improve quality of life for others.
• Civic engagement: Active contribution to community development, volunteering, or public-interest activities.
• Innovation with societal value: Projects, ideas, or initiatives that offer practical solutions to real-world problems.
• Environmental impact: Actions that promote sustainability or contribute to addressing environmental challenges.
• Inspiration and leadership: Efforts that motivate others to engage, contribute, or create change within their communities.

Eligibility

Current students and graduates of the University are eligible to apply or be nominated.

Procedure

Candidates may be nominated in one of the following ways:

• Self-nomination:
Interested candidates are invited to apply by completing the Application Form no later than Sunday, 31 May 2026.

• Nomination by a member of the University Community:
Candidates may be nominated by any member of the University community by completing the Nomination Form no later than Saturday, 24 May 2026.
