Internationalization

Building vibrant partnerships across
the world

We are committed to continuously raising our international profile and reputation, through meaningful partnerships with educational and research institutions as well as the industry across the world. This is achieved through promoting international collaborations in education, research and knowledge transfer, inter-cultural exchange, and creating an enriched environment for the University community.

International networks and alliances

• Participation in EU-CONEXUS as a full member. EU-CONEXUS is a consortium of European universities focused on smart urban coastal sustainability. It has been selected by the European Commission as one of 44 European University Alliances in the framework of the European Universities’ initiative. EU-CONEXUS’ mission is to develop innovative educational and research methods and interdisciplinary approaches in the field of blue growth. EU-CONEXUS is an alliance between five partners, La Rochelle Université (France), the Agricultural University of Athens (Greece), the Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest (Romania), Klaipeda University (Lithuania), the Universidad Catοlica de Valencia “San Vicente Mαrtir” (Spain) and the University of Zadar (Croatia), and three associated partners, Frederick University (Cyprus), South East Technological University (Ireland) and the University of Rostock (Germany).
• Official membership in the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UN SDSN). The Network promotes practical solutions to modern challenges through the achievement of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations. As a member of the Network, Frederick University contributes to finding solutions to global challenges, by connecting with other sustainable development experts and collaborating with them on research, solutions initiatives, and policy work.
• Membership in the Global University Partnership on Environment and Sustainability (GUPES) for our contribution to Education for the Environment and Sustainable Development.
• Awarding of the UNESCO Chair on Lifelong Learning and Adult Education for work and capacity building in the domain in Asian countries in collaboration with EU partners.

International Research

• Strategic research with reputable institutions abroad. Collaborations include joint research projects and exchange of expertise, knowledge and infrastructure.

Mobility Programs
• Participation in the Erasmus+ program that drives collaborations for, mobility of students, faculty and administrative staff, participation in training programs and linking and interacting with business, development and participation in short/intensive programs, involvement in a European Universities network targeting a domain relevant to our activities and strategic objectives, research, innovation, tech transfer and education projects , development of new joint programs of study, especially at second and third cycle and in the use of state-of-the-art technologies in teaching and learning.
• Participation in the IAESTE and Vulcanus in Japan Programs

Internationalised teaching
• The design and delivery of the curriculum is enriched with international perspectives and best practices, thus preparing students to understand global issues and meet today’s and tomorrow’s challenges. This also enhances employability as they enter the local and global labour markets as global citizens.
• Annual organization of FREDMUN (Frederick Model United Nations) as the only - at a University level in Cyprus - Model United Nations (MUN) supported officially by the United Nations.
• Educational partnerships with reputable institutions abroad
• Operation of Distance Learning and oversees Examination Centers offering already more than 10 DL programs of study

International community
• An international learning environment with a broad range of English-taught programmes and various services designed to help international students adjust in Cyprus and feel at home.
