Upon successful completion of this Programme, the students should be able to:
1. Advise, litigate and negotiate based on the rules of admiralty, international trade, and marine insurance, law of carriage of goods, corporate law and the relevant regulatory context.
2. Demonstrate negotiation skills, communication and professional skills, both oral and written.
3. Apply independent analysis, research and writing on both law and business.
4. Understand the aspects relating to international dispute resolution (conventional and alternative dispute resolution) and the importance of cooperation and amicable dispute settlement without the sacrifice of efficiency and perseverance in justifiable goals and rights.
5. Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the structures, processes and institutional practices of shipping and trade in the global marketplace.
6. Apply tools and techniques relevant to various aspects of the shipping business, along with broad business skills required in managerial roles within the maritime and associated industries.
7. Develop, implement and promote activities relevant to law, shipping business, international trade and shipping management by making good use of the combined knowledge from the aforementioned disciplines and critically assess the situations and phenomena of the industry as educated professionals.
8. Demonstrate the appropriate knowledge and application of methods required to proceed to a research degree (MPhil, PhD etc.)

Specific Admission Requirements
Academic Requirement: A good undergraduate degree from a recognised university, or an equivalent international qualification, or an acceptable professional qualification. Candidates’ specific minimum academic requirements for admittance to the Programme are:
- Undergraduate degree with a business or law orientation, or
- Undergraduate degree in any other area, provided the candidate has substantial experience in a managerial post within a business environment, or
- A professional qualification such as Membership of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, Qualified lawyer (e.g., Bar and Law Association membership), Master Mariner’s or Chief Engineer’s Certificate of Competency. This will only apply where the candidate has, in addition, satisfactory business experience.

English Language Requirement: If you have completed your entire degree in a non-English speaking Programme of studies, you must demonstrate satisfactory knowledge of English language. Suitable qualifications may include:
- TOEFL, or IELTS, or GCSE, or IGCSE, or Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English, or equivalent, or
- High school leaving certificate from a High School where the language of tuition is English, or
- Α pass (>50%) at the English Placement Test of our University.

Recognition of Prior Learning
There are no specific arrangements for recognition of prior learning for this Program. Candidates can be granted transfer credits according to the general arrangements for recognition of prior learning of the University.

General criteria for Distance Learning Programmes
All Distance Learning Programs are offered through E-Learning methods. Therefore, students applying for distance learning programs, in addition to the academic requirements of each program, must have a good level of digital literacy:

The list of necessary digital knowledge and equipment that the student must have to participate and be an active member of the program includes:
- Access to a reliable broadband network
- Computer with camera and microphone
- Smartphone
- Ability to send and receive emails and files
- Ability to operate within an online digital environment, such as the learning platform
- Ability to manage word processing, presentation and other basic functions of office applications.

- Official transcripts of all degrees to date (including any not yet completed): Please ensure that you provide full detailed copies of your transcripts outlining all the modules you have studied and marks achieved.
- Personal Statement: A short written statement not more than 500 words outlining your suitability to the programme and your reasons for applying. You may highlight your professional and research interests and any relevant work experience.
- Two academic references or one academic and one professional where is applicable. You can provide us the names and contacts (telephone and email addresses) for your referees and they will be contacted directly by our admission office.
- Any other supporting documents: copies of certificates of relevant examinations such as language test results, GMAT results, etc.
