Mr. Iacovos Christofi

Iakovos Christofi is a PhD candidate in Physiotherapy at European University Cyprus, where his doctoral research focuses on investigating the effectiveness of combining Pain Neuroscience Education (PNE) with Therapeutic Exercise in adults with chronic neck pain. He has also completed specialised training in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy at the Cyprus Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy. He holds a Master's degree in Sports Physiotherapy, awarded with Summa Cum Laude honours, and a Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy, awarded with Magna Cum Laude honours, both from European University Cyprus. Following the completion of his undergraduate studies in 2019, he worked as a physiotherapist at Ekali Care and Rehabilitation Centre. In 2020, he began his postgraduate studies, which he completed in 2022. He subsequently worked as a physiotherapist at Polyclinic Ygeia Private Hospital until 2024. Since 2024, he has been actively involved in clinical education and the teaching of physiotherapy courses. His research interests focus on investigating and evaluating contemporary and innovative physiotherapy interventions for the management of chronic musculoskeletal conditions. He has contributed to research projects and scientific publications, and research conducted by his team has been presented at scientific conferences in Cyprus and internationally. Furthermore, he is committed to continuous professional development and lifelong learning through participation in specialised training courses and educational programmes, including Pain Neuroscience Education.

Ο Ιάκωβος Χριστοφή είναι υποψήφιος διδάκτορας Φυσικοθεραπείας στο Ευρωπαϊκό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου, όπου η διδακτορική του έρευνα επικεντρώνεται στη διερεύνηση της αποτελεσματικότητας της συνδυασμένης εφαρμογής της Εκπαίδευσης στη Νευροεπιστήμη του Πόνου (Pain Neuroscience Education) και της Θεραπευτικής Άσκησης σε ενήλικες με χρόνιο αυχενικό πόνο. Επιπλέον, έχει λάβει εξειδικευμένη εκπαίδευση στη Μυοσκελετική Θεραπεία (Manual Therpay) στο Cyprus Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy. Κατέχει μεταπτυχιακό τίτλο σπουδών στην Αθλητική Φυσικοθεραπεία με διάκριση (Summa Cum Laude) και πτυχίο Φυσικοθεραπείας με διάκριση (Magna Cum Laude), αμφότερα από το Ευρωπαϊκό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου. Μετά την ολοκλήρωση των προπτυχιακών του σπουδών το 2019, εργάστηκε ως φυσικοθεραπευτής στη Μονάδα Φροντίδας και Αποκατάστασης Εκάλη. Το 2020 ξεκίνησε τις μεταπτυχιακές του σπουδές, τις οποίες ολοκλήρωσε το 2022. Στη συνέχεια, εργάστηκε ως φυσικοθεραπευτής στην Πολυκλινική Υγεία – Ιδιωτικό Νοσοκομείο έως το 2024. Από το 2024 δραστηριοποιείται στον τομέα της κλινικής εκπαίδευσης και της διδασκαλίας μαθημάτων Φυσικοθεραπείας. Τα ερευνητικά του ενδιαφέροντα εστιάζουν στη διερεύνηση και αξιολόγηση σύγχρονων και καινοτόμων φυσικοθεραπευτικών παρεμβάσεων για τη διαχείριση χρόνιων μυοσκελετικών παθήσεων. Έχει συμμετάσχει σε ερευνητικές δραστηριότητες και επιστημονικές δημοσιεύσεις, ενώ εργασίες της ερευνητικής του ομάδας έχουν παρουσιαστεί σε επιστημονικά συνέδρια στην Κύπρο και στο εξωτερικό. Παράλληλα, επιδιώκει τη συνεχή επιστημονική και επαγγελματική του ανάπτυξη μέσω της συμμετοχής του σε εξειδικευμένα εκπαιδευτικά σεμινάρια και προγράμματα επιμόρφωσης, όπως το Pain Neuroscience Education.
