Dr Victoria Pavlou is a Professor of Visual Arts Education in the Department of Education. She holds a Teacher diploma from the Pedagogical Academy of Cyprus, a BEd from the University of Athens (graduated first in her year) and a MA in Educational Studies (with distinction) from Warwick University. She received the Ph.D. degree in Education in 2003 from the Institute of Education, University of London (School of Arts and Humanities & School of Human Development). She joined the Department of Education in 2008. Prior to this appointment she worked as a research officer at the Institute of Education (University of London), as a post-doctoral researcher and visiting lecturer at the University of Aegean (Greece), and as a visiting lecturer at the University of Cyprus. Her research interests focus primarily on the area of visual arts in primary education: initial teacher education and continuing teacher professional development (enhancing visual arts education with sustainable development capabilities, profiling teaching styles, teachers’ attitudes and knowledge, developing pedagogical content knowledge, etc.), pupils’ learning preferences, motivation and creative potentials, and integrating ICT in learning and teaching (multliteracies and multimodality, open and close software, online interactive activities, video art, etc.). She has experience in numerous European projects (e.g. KC-MEM, Digiworld, Training Educators in ICT issues, etc.) and was an external evaluator in European-funded projects (e.g. reviewer of the EnVIL’s (European Network of Visual Literacy Network) Comenius project titled "Common European Framework of Reference on Visual Literacy"). Currently, she coordinates the European-funded project ‘Critical ARts Education for Sustainable Societies’ (CARE/SS) (2022-2024), and she was also the coordinator of the European-funded project ‘Art education in innovative times: Connecting Art with REal life issues (CARE) (2019-2022)’. Her teaching interests include visual arts education, museum education, educational evaluation, artistic expression and new technologies in education, multimodality, pedagogy, and research methods. She is teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the Department of Education. She has presented her work at numerous scientific conferences and international journal publications such as the International Journal of Education through Art, International Journal of Art and Design Education, Studies in Educational Evaluation, Visual Inquiry: Learning and Teaching Art, etc. Η Δρ Βικτώρια Παύλου είναι Καθηγήτρια Εικαστικής Παιδείας στο Τμήμα Επιστημών της Αγωγής. Είναι κάτοχος διπλώματος δασκάλας από την Παιδαγωγική Ακαδημία Κύπρου, πτυχίου δημοτικής εκπαίδευσης από το Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών (αποφοίτησε πρώτη το έτος της) και μεταπτυχιακού στις Παιδαγωγικές Σπουδές (με διάκριση) από το Πανεπιστήμιο Warwick. Έλαβε το Διδακτορικό τίτλο στην Εκπαίδευση το 2003 από το Institute of Education, University of London (School of Arts and Humanities & School of Human Development). Εντάχθηκε στο Τμήμα Επιστημών της Αγωγής του Πανεπιστήμιου Frederick το 2008. Προηγουμένως εργάστηκε ως ερευνήτρια στο Ινστιτούτο Εκπαίδευσης (Πανεπιστήμιο του Λονδίνου), ως μεταδιδακτορική ερευνήτρια και επισκέπτρια λέκτορας στο Πανεπιστήμιο Αιγαίου (Ελλάδα), και ως επισκέπτρια λέκτορας στο Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου. Τα ερευνητικά της ενδιαφέροντα εστιάζονται κυρίως στον τομέα των εικαστικών τεχνών στην πρωτοβάθμια εκπαίδευση: αρχική εκπαίδευση εκπαιδευτικών και συνεχιζόμενη επαγγελματική ανάπτυξη εκπαιδευτικών (ενίσχυση της εικαστικής παιδείας με ικανότητες για αειφόρο ανάπτυξη, διδακτικά προφίλ, στάσεις και γνώσεις εκπαιδευτικών, ανάπτυξη γνώσης παιδαγωγικού περιεχομένου κ.λπ. ), μαθησιακές προτιμήσεις των μαθητών, κίνητρα και δημιουργικές δυνατότητες, και ενσωμάτωση των ΤΠΕ στη μάθηση και τη διδασκαλία (πολλυγραμματισμοί και πολυτροπικότητα, ανοιχτά και κλειστά λογισμικά, διαδικτυακές διαδραστικές δραστηριότητες, βίντεο τέχνη κ.λπ.). Έχει εργαστεί σε πολλά ευρωπαϊκά προγράμματα (π.χ. KC-MEM, Digiworld, Εκπαιδεύοντας Εκπαιδευτικούς σε θέματα ΤΠΕ, κ.λπ.) και ήταν εξωτερικός αξιολογητής σε ευρωπαϊκά χρηματοδοτούμενα έργα (π.χ. αναθεωρητής του έργου Comenius του EnVIL (European Network of Visual Literacy Network) με τίτλο " Κοινό ευρωπαϊκό πλαίσιο αναφοράς για τον οπτικό γραμματισμό"). Αυτό το διάστημα είναι η συντονίστρια του ευρωπαϊκού χρηματοδοτούμενου έργου «Critical ARts Education for Sustainable Societies’ (CARE/SS) (2022-2024), και ήταν επίσης η συντονίστρια του ευρωπαϊκού χρηματοδοτούμενου έργου «Art education in innovative times: Connecting Art with REal life issues (CARE) (2019-2022)». Τα διδακτικά της ενδιαφέροντα περιλαμβάνουν την εικαστική αγωγή, τη μουσειακή αγωγή, την εκπαιδευτική αξιολόγηση, την καλλιτεχνική έκφραση και την ενσωμάτωση των νέων τεχνολογιών στην εκπαίδευση, την πολυτροπικότητα, την παιδαγωγική και τη μεθοδολογία έρευνας. Διδάσκει σε προπτυχιακά και μεταπτυχιακά μαθήματα του Τμήματος Επιστημών της Αγωγής. Έχει παρουσιάσει το έργο της σε πολλά επιστημονικά συνέδρια και έχει δημοσιεύσεις σε διεθνή περιοδικά όπως το International Journal of Education through Art, International Journal of Art and Design Education, Studies in Educational Evaluation, Visual Inquiry: Learning and Teaching Art, κλπ.
