Conference on the use of hydrogen to be held at Frederick University

Frederick University is hosting the Hydrogen for a Clean Future: Pathways for Cyprus & Beyond Conference, co-organised by the Cyprus Hydrogen Association and the Cyprus Employers & Industrialists Federation (OEB) on Friday, November 14, 2025. 

The Conference will be held in the "Tassos Papadopoulos" Seminar Room in Nicosia, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

This landmark event will unite leading experts, researchers, industry pioneers, and policymakers to chart the future of hydrogen as a cornerstone of clean energy transitions in Cyprus and across Europe. Through a series of keynote addresses and expert panels, participants will gain first-hand insights from distinguished voices shaping the European and Cypriot hydrogen landscape - exploring the latest policy developments, breakthrough technologies, and real-world applications driving progress across multiple sectors.

Beyond knowledge sharing, the conference will foster meaningful dialogue and collaboration, inspiring new partnerships and innovative thinking. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to connect directly with decision-makers and trailblazers, strengthening ties across the hydrogen value chain and contributing to the shared vision of a sustainable, hydrogen-powered future for Cyprus and the wider region.By fostering dialogue and partnership, the “Hydrogen for a Clean Future” Conference seeks to inspire actionable pathways toward a greener, more resilient energy future — one in which hydrogen stands as a cornerstone of decarbonisation and sustainable growth.

Makis Ketonis, President of the Cyprus Hydrogen Association, will welcome participants to the conference.

The Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, Giorgos Papanastasiou, will address the event, along with Kyriacos Hadjiyiannis, Member of the Standing Committee on Energy, Trade, Industry and Tourism.

Prof. Andreas Poullikkas, member of the faculty at Frederick University's School of Engineering, is among the keynote speakers, sharing his expertise on the role of hydrogen in the energy transition.

Prof. Poullikkas will also take part in the panel discussion on Cyprus’s strategies for green hydrogen.
