January 16th, 2026
This new LLM in Law of New Technologies, offered by the University's Department of Law, has been designed to provide specialized knowledge in legal issues arising in fields such as Artificial Intelligence, GDPR, Cybersecurity, and the Digital Economy. The new postgraduate program has been successfully evaluated and accredited by the Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education (CYQAA). It is the only LLM (Master of Laws) in the academic field of “Law and Technology” offered via distance learning in the Greek language in Cyprus and Greece.
This program, which prepares legal professionals to meet the challenges posed by the rapidly evolving digital and technological era, is offered by the Department of Law of the School of Business and Law.
In its report, the External Evaluation Committee praised the overall design of the program, finding it fully relevant to contemporary and emerging challenges posed by new technologies in the field of law, as well as fully aligned with the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). The Committee also highlighted as a particularly positive feature the interdisciplinary nature of the program, which successfully bridges law and technology and fosters analytical thinking within a European and international context.
Furthermore, the Committee identified as a particularly strong advantage the high level and composition of the academic staff, describing them as experienced, highly qualified, and especially active in research, with documented expertise in the fields of law and technology. It also noted that the research activity of the teaching staff, collaborations with other universities, and participation in European organizations significantly enhance the quality and sustainability of the programme.
The new postgraduate programme is taught by qualified academics in Legal Science, complemented by faculty members from other departments of the University that collaborate with the Department of Law, as well as external collaborators from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Roehampton University in London, specializing in Information Technology Law, Ethics, and New Technologies.
The program is coordinated by Dr. Konstantinos Kouroupis, Associate Professor at the Department of Law of Frederick University and expert of the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) in Brussels. As he notes: “Law of new technologies is already at the core of modern legal practice, as emerging technologies transform society and the economy. This new postgraduate program offers precisely a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach to the legal, regulatory, and ethical issues raised by new technologies.”
The new distance-learning Master’s Program in Law of New Technologies will be offered in the new academic semester starting on February 9.
