Citizens and their wellbeing should be the primary goal when we talk about design and implementation of the city's sustainability strategy. This was the main conclusion of this year's Forum.

The Department of Arts and Communication at Frederick University supports young individuals who have the potential to excel in the field of journalism with special scholarships, awarding a total of five (5) scholarships that amount to 30% for all years of study.

At Frederick University, we believe that museums contribute significantly to improving our quality of life by enriching culture and enhancing communication, understanding, and collaboration. That's why we celebrate this year's theme of Museum Day: "Museums, Sustainability, and Quality of Life!"

"The rapid transition to the green economy is our shared vision," stated Mr. George Papanastasiou, Minister of Energy, Commerce, and Industry, during an event on Monday, 15th of May at our Nicosia campus.

On the occasion of World Earth Day, Frederick University visited the Primary Schools of Deftera and Kato Pyrgos on the 27th and 28th of April.

During the visit, Dr. Christos Mammidis, Researcher at the Nature Conservation Unit of Frederick University and member of the BIOMON project research team, introduced pupils to the importance of developing innovative technologies for monitoring bird populations in key ecological areas of Cyprus. The students had the opportunity to learn about the value of Cyprus’ bird populations and the contribution of the BIOMON research project to the protection of bird populations and the broader preservation of biodiversity.

The BIOMON project, funded by the European Commission through the HORIZON EUROPE – ERA Fellowships program, aims to develop new artificial intelligence (AI) methods for bird monitoring in high-value agricultural areas of Cyprus using acoustic sensors. Bird populations serve as important indicators of an area’s ecological status, as variations in their presence and frequency can reveal environmental changes, ecosystem health, and potential threats to their survival.

Frederick University participates in the BIOMON project as the contracting entity. The project’s research team includes Dr. Mammidis and Dr. Haris Papadopoulos, Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering and Informatics at Frederick University.
