The Peer Tutoring centre “Students for Students”, resumes its operation for the Fall 22 semester.
The Peer Tutoring centre is a place where students who need help, especially in introductory-level courses, can visit and receive tutoring services and academic assistance by other University students (Peer Tutors). Peer Tutors are students that are employed by the University and who have excelled in the course they tutor. Their goal is to assist students with the course content and to help them develop strong academic habits.

The centre operates in Room 003. The courses that are going to be supported this semester by the Peer Tutoring Centre in Limassol are:
• PESS 103 HUMAN ANATOMY, Wednesday, 12:30 - 14:00.
• PESS 205 EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGY, Friday, 13:30 – 15:00.

Ύστερα από σχετική ανακοίνωση του ΔΟΑΤΑΠ για τα εξ αποστάσεως προγράμματα σπουδών και άλλα συναφή θέματα που αναφέρονται στον νέο νόμο για την Ανώτατη Εκπαίδευση (ν.4957/2022) που ψηφίστηκε πρόσφατα στη Ελλάδα, και ύστερα από επαφές με αρμόδιες αρχές σε Ελλάδα και Κύπρο για διευκρίνιση συγκεκριμένων θεμάτων, θα θέλαμε να ενημερώσουμε για τα ακόλουθα:
1. Το Πανεπιστήμιο Frederick βρίσκεται στο Εθνικό Μητρώο Αναγνωρισμένων Ιδρυμάτων Ανώτατης Εκπαίδευσης της αλλοδαπής του ΔΟΑΤΑΠ, σύμφωνα με τα κριτήρια του άρθρου 304 του ν.4957/2022 (https://www.doatap.gr/anagnorish/ethniko-mitroo-anagnorismenon-idrymaton-anotatis-ekpaidefsis-tis-allodapis/).
2. Σύμφωνα με τον ίδιο νόμο, επιτρέπεται η διεξαγωγή γραπτών ή προφορικών εξετάσεων σε μεταπτυχιακά προγράμματα σπουδών δευτέρου κύκλου με τη χρήση ηλεκτρονικών μέσων, υπό την προϋπόθεση ότι εξασφαλίζεται το αδιάβλητο της διαδικασίας της αξιολόγησης. Ως εκ τούτου, από το τρέχον χειμερινό εξάμηνο 2022, η αξιολόγηση των φοιτητών των εξ αποστάσεως μεταπτυχιακών προγραμμάτων σπουδών του Πανεπιστημίου μας δεν θα πραγματοποιείται δια ζώσης σε Εξεταστικά Κέντρα στην Ελλάδα, αλλά με ηλεκτρονικά μέσα, με διαδικασία που βασίζεται σε διεθνή πρότυπα και διασφαλίζει το αδιάβλητο των εξετάσεων. Σημειώνεται ότι το Πανεπιστήμιο ήδη έχει διεξάγει αδιάβλητες εξετάσεις με ηλεκτρονικά μέσα κατά τη διάρκεια της πανδημίας με απόλυτη επιτυχία.
3. Η πρακτική άσκηση των φοιτητών, όταν αυτή αποτελεί αναπόσπαστο μέρος του ακαδημαϊκού προγράμματος σπουδών, μπορεί να πραγματοποιείται σε δομές στην Ελλάδα μόνο μέσω του προγράμματος Erasmus+ (π.χ. Integrated Master Φαρμακευτικής). Αντίθετα, σε περιπτώσεις όπου η πρακτική άσκηση των φοιτητών γίνεται επιπλέον του ακαδημαϊκού μέρους του προγράμματος σπουδών (όπως στην περίπτωση του μεταπτυχιακού προγράμματος σπουδών της Ειδικής Εκπαίδευσης του Πανεπιστημίου μας όπου αυτή γίνεται επιπλέον των 90 ECTS) μπορεί να πραγματοποιείται κανονικά στην Ελλάδα (όπως ίσχυε μέχρι σήμερα) αφού αυτό γίνεται για να καλυφθεί ένα από τα κριτήρια (20 ECTS πρακτική άσκηση) που έθεσε το Ινστιτούτο Εκπαιδευτικής Πολιτικής (ΙΕΠ) της Ελλάδας για τη συνάφεια των μεταπτυχιακών τίτλων με την Ειδική Αγωγή και Εκπαίδευση (ΕΑΕ). Προς επιβεβαίωση τούτου αξίζει να αναφερθεί ότι απόφοιτοι του εν λόγω μεταπτυχιακού προγράμματος σπουδών αφού ολοκλήρωσαν το ακαδημαϊκό μέρος των σπουδών (90 ECTS) και χωρίς πρακτική άσκηση έλαβαν πράξη αναγνώρισης από τον ΔΟΑΤΑΠ.

Clarifications regarding the new law (ν.4957/2022) for Higher Education in Greece
Following the relevant announcement by DOATAP regarding the distance learning studies and other related issues referred to in the new Legislation of Higher Education in Greece (n.4957/2022), and further communication with the competent Authorities in Greece and in Cyprus for additional clarifications, we would like to inform you that:
The University is included in DOATAP’s National Registry of Foreign Higher Education Institutions, according to the criteria set in Article 304, of the relevant law (https://www.doatap.gr/anagnorish/ethniko-mitroo-anagnorismenon-idrymaton-anotatis-ekpaidefsis-tis-allodapis/).
According to the provisions of the same law, Institutions are allowed to conduct examinations, in postgraduate programs of study, remotely (written or orally) with the use of digital means, given that the methods and procedures used safeguard the credibility of the exams. Therefore, final exams for distance learning postgraduate programs will not take place , as of this semester (Fall 2022) in person, in accredited examination Centres in Greece, but remotely, as implemented so successfully during the past two years due to the pandemic.
In programs of study where the field work / Internship is mandatory and an integrated part of the academic program /structure of a degree, this can only take place in Greece under the Erasmus+ program (as in the case of the Integrated Pharmacy Degree). On the contrary, in cases where the internship is not a mandatory aspect of the program and it takes place, over and above, after the completion of the core part of the program, (as in the case of the Med in Special Education), this can be carried out in Greece (as was the case until today). It is noted that the internship is a prerequisite set by the Institute of Educational Policy (IEP) of Greece for those who want to be included in the relevant Ministry lists. Students can and have graduated with 90 ECTS with their degree recognized by DOATAP.

Our University's Sports Office in Nicosia is organizing a two week table tennis tournament starting on Monday November 21st.
The tournament will take place at Frederick University's Gym (Nicosia campus) between the hours 15:00-17:00.
The rules are simple: No hands on the table, hit the ball, score. (You also need to be quite fast and focused.)
